About The Course


Menstrual Equity 101 is a three-hour train-the-trainer for community members, social workers, school nurses, nursing students, and anyone who works with adolescents and adults who menstruate. In this training, participants will learn the basics of reproductive health (specifically menstruation and menstrual hygiene management), understand the importance of addressing period poverty and other forms of period trauma,understand how hormones can affect the menstrual cycle/mood of the person menstruating and identify tools for supporting youth and adults who menstruate. At the end of the training, participants will have the knowledge and skills they need to effectively facilitate menstrual wellness workshops in the community. Furthermore, participants will complete the training feeling comfortable and prepared to share information about menstruation with others. 

Learning Objectives


In this training, participants will be able to:

  • Share their own menstrual experiences or their experiences supporting people in their lives who menstruate
  • Understand the anatomy of the female body and the physiology of the menstrual cycle
  • Understand how hormones can affect the menstrual cycle and
  • Understand how nutrition, physical activity, and mental health can affect (and be affected by) the menstrual cycle
  • Learn about period poverty and other forms of period trauma, including common reproductive health issues
  •  Identify best practices for supporting youth and adults who menstruate from diverse backgrounds
  • Apply their knowledge of menstrual equity through peer group activities
